The Last Straw

A remaster of a very old hack I made back in the day under the same name.
Mario and Luigi have had it with the Princess letting herself get kidnapped all the time. It’s time they give her a piece of their mind.

Thank you for downloading "The Last Straw".
I made this hack back in 2008 when I was a kid. Now that I'm an adult,
I polished it up a bit for others to enjoy.

v2.2
Submitted to SMW Central on 9/23/2020. Revised the following elements:
Fixed a bug where the fish near the beginning of the underground
area of Brownie Bluff would clip through the wall in its swim
trajectory. It also now spawns from the right correctly.
Adjusted the Star music to prevent the game from crashing when the
track ends. Also normalized the volume for several level tracks.
Reduced the number of sprites in A Really Messy Area to ameliorate
slowdown issues. Also removed the spotlight to eliminate the harsh
flashing during the goal sequence.
Edited an area in Piranha Lake to prevent the level's autoscroll
from crushing the player if he does not quickly enter the exit pipe.
Removed the fire-breathing Bowser statue in Final Showdown to prevent
sound effect glitches caused by the wall jump sound and the fire
sound.
