A Super Mario ROM Hack aggregator/archive thing
Super Curious World (v. 1.1)
Super Curious World is a collaborative ROM hack created as a labor of love for CuriousAndSpurious, a friend and fellow Kaizo enthusiast, after his cancer diagnosis. The hack brought together 16 creators, including several first-timers, and received exceptional support from graphic artists, music porters, and seasoned ROM hackers. This game also provided non-players from the community with the opportunity to get included with portraits. Our goal was celebrate life and diversity as well as giving a friend a good time. Some of the message boxes contain more or less personal messages.
The hack features an open overworld and is loosely arranged by difficulty, with the exception of “Curious CAStle” by drkrdnk, which is the final level due to it being a castle. While most levels are Kaizo-style, the complexity of setups varies significantly, and all levels have chocolate elements that they lean more or less heavy into. The normal exit of “The Best I Could Do” by daddynevin is rather trolly, the secret exit more Kaizo.
To ensure the hack was well-balanced, playtesters including blueribbonhighlife, eejay, germdove, KingJayRool, WhoIsDoopu, and xoxoGossipGreg helped to eliminate softlocks and minimize issues.
It’s worth noting that the hack contains mature content. “Spurious Shroom” features a “Save for Twitch”-secret that shows a male identifying nipple, although it is completely optional. Additionally some mature language (e.g. “Fuck Cancer”) is used.
Overall, we hope that Super Curious World showcases how empathetic and friendly the Kaizo community can be. Most importantly, we hope that you enjoy the hack and appreciate it as the labor of love that it is. If you have seen CaS play the game on stream: Several setups have been changed and streamlined to make the game more approachable.

│ softlocks were eliminated. │
