II. THINGS OF NOTE
This hack uses a multitude of QOL patches to improve the player's experience. Some of the most notable among them are:
-prompted retry (lower left corner)
-frame rules are patched
-running speed oscillation is patched
-wall & note block clips are patched
-ON/OFF double hits are patched
-double-spin glitch is patched (spinspinspinaaaaaugghh)
-throw direction when spin-jumping while holding an item is patched
-fire flower fire shoots in a straight line
-block duplication has been disabled
-scrolling the screen with L/R has been disabled
-counterbreak is enabled for every level
-you can press select to save your progress at any time on the overworld
This hack also features a completely optional "moon" the player can collect in each level. I probably wouldn't bother if I were you.

III. INSPIRATIONS
In the spirit of transparency, and as an acknowledgment and celebration of the exceedingly talented community of SMWC, I wanted to take the time to note the myriad inspirations that helped shape this hack. Hacking culture is inherently mimetic, and this hack is inherently mimetic in turn, functioning both as a diary for my own ideas, but also as a love letter to the creators whose concepts I tried to interpret in my own language.
