Mario's Keytastrophe

Released:
By: S.N.N.
Found on: smwc
Difficulty: 0

The musical land of Melodia has been cursed by an evil, shipwrecked crew. Their intentions are unknown, but their captain is seeking something that could scar the land for all time. Things only heat up when an ancient war between two kings is reawakened in the middle of the land.

Will Mario be able to put an end to this?

WARNING: Not fully compatible with SNES9x/bsnes. ZSNES 1.42 strongly recommended. [Music]

==THE KEY SPIRITS==

such as passing an area, activating events, or doing a job for someone. There are
a total of 110 to collect, but only 51 are in this version

20 Key Spirits: Mainland Remix
-This purchase will remix the main map's theme song. You can swap between the
two themes at any time by knocking the block again.

-Encounter a strange block with the letter R on it? The R stands for Rock.
Purchasing this inventory item will allow you to smash through these blocks!

-A wooden shipwreck lies just east of the shop. Making this purchase will allow
you to access the ship.

42 Key Spirits: Access to the Mercatus Storage

confetti and excitement .. you'll be in for a dark adventure.

will await you...

Mario's Keytastrophe: Demo 4
July 16, 2007 - November 17, 2009

Thank you for downloading Mario's Keytastrophe. Quite a lot has been changed and added
since the third demo over a year and a half ago. In total, you can find the following:

-51 Key Spirits
-8 Jeopardy Rooms
-1 Seal
-3 "INV" items.

The "shop" area, which you will find in the hack, also has five things for you
to purchase. Mart.txt, which is also enclosed which this ZIP, lists what all of them
are.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: While this has will run on all emulators (except older versions of
SNES9X), you may encounter some lag when using ZSNES 1.51. For the best results, please
use ZSNES 1.42 (not sure why you wouldn't be using that anyway).

-------------------------------
NOTABLE CHANGES SINCE DEMO 3
-------------------------------

-World 4, the Moderato Mountains, has been added. This, along with secret areas,
adds an extra 14 exits.
-Earlier tracks, such as the Andante Snowfield map theme, some ice levels, and
world 1 levels, have had a makeover.
-The "20" block in the shop no longer swaps the map palette.
-The first few levels have been redesigned to be a tad longer.
-The first two bosses now have some personality and fit with the story.
No more Iggy and Lemmy!
-Many blocks have had their graphics altered to fit the theme of the hack more.
Thanks Hailstorm.
-You should no longer be able to get "permanently stuck" anywhere. If you mess up
on a puzzle, there will either be a reset block/pipe, or a way to kill yourself.

-------------------------------
KNOWN ISSUES
-------------------------------

-When completing castles/fortresses/switch palaces on the main map, the music
gets jumpy and resets during the sequence. Unfortunately, I have no idea
how to fix this. It does not hinder gameplay at all though, and only lasts about a second.
-You may have to enter the music code twice in Clarinet SnowWood.

CREDITS
-------------------------------

So many people have helped with this hack over the years. If you are part of this bunch,
then thank you very much. I have not forgotten what you've done for this hack.

Some very notable and recent special thanks goes out to the following people:

Hailstorm: pretty much the entire reason I continued with this hack. He also created the
skeleton level of Moderato Fortress, which I enjoyed so much that I left it mostly
the same. He also created the end-of-demo music mini-game, and a few graphics.
Foursword4: constant support, testing, nagging, all the stuff that helps a hack
improve. He must have tested this thing at least a dozen times now <3.
Supertails: various graphics throughout the hack (i.e. the mermaid in Aquaria Melodia,
Vulcan). Also, testing and being awesome <3.
Ersanio: Helped out quite a ton when it came to explaining some ASM stuff I was unclear of
Thanks a lot!

If you do not appear on this list, I have not forgotten you. These people are mostly
the ones who have assisted greatly between the last demo and now.

CLOSING NOTES
-------------------------------

Again, I'd like to thank everyone who offered support and assistance at SMW Central.
This hack wouldn't be where it is today without you.

Enjoy.
