In Memoriam Hack Pack

These are my final Super Mario World hacks. This is a hack pack containing the following hacks: -In Memoriam -“Bonus Levels” -“Back to the Classics 2” -“Flowers” -“Old Contest Entry” -Spud Alpha’s Vanilla Level Design Contest 2011 Entry
All of these hacks are unfinished, but they aren’t demos because I do not plan to finish them.
The main hack here is entitled “In Memoriam”. It’s dedicated to what I consider “old hacks”(from around 2000-2007), and in general my hacking experience. I’ve attempted to try to use the general style and feel these old hacks in this hack. It’s vanilla, but doesn’t try for fancy tricks, but rather tries to be rather nostalgic and rustic. Hopefully I’ve succeeded. The next four hacks, “Bonus Levels”, “Back to the Classics 2”, “Flowers”, and “Old Contest Entry”, are all very short, previously unreleased hacks. The final hack in the pack is “Spud Alpha’s Vanilla Level Design Contest 2011 Entry”. It scored in at 5th place, and I’m very proud of it. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy my final few Super Mario World hacks. Have fun!

This is my last SMW hack... it's supposed to feel like an old SMW hack(like those from 2002-2008). I loved hacks back then,
and sadly, I don't think many modern SMW hacks can match many of them, quality-wise. So this is supposed to be very rustic.
It's vanilla, but that doesn't matter at all, does it? I hope it gives you a nostalgia rush or something. LOL!

unfinished hacks.txt
These are unfinished hacks of mine.
This isn't all of them, many have been lost or were released in my hack pack "Spud Alpha's Unifinished Hack Collection".
I felt like I have to release these, or else I won't feel complete, so here they are.
I had some intricate plans for most of them, but I don't feel like finishing them.
Enjoy.
P.S. I added a "z" to the beginning of the descriptions of each hack so they'd be at the bottom of this folder.

hack title: bonus levels
created: 2011
I had a few little vanilla ideas, and wanted to put them in one single hack and release that as my final hack. It'd be
called "Bonus Levels" because they'd be really not-connected, plot and level-wise, sort of like the Star World levels.
For instance, the level ideas I had were
=Snowsong-A mountain which is snowy on the outside and lava-ey on the inside. You must go in and outside a lot. This is
the one sublevel in the ROM.
=The Bends- Vertical reef level. Then a flooded castle sitting on the not submerged part of the reef.
=Silvis Mortuis- A forest full of skeletons and ghosts.
=Hocus Pocus- The level starts as a dark forest, going from left to right. It uses layer 3 water. Then you enter a castle
where Magikoopa's magic is used to break walls to advance.
=IfYouThinkIt'sOver- Barren land, with a message leaving the player confused, saying the hack isn't over. Side exit
enabled. If you press all the switches, then you enter a ghostly blue cave, which leads to:
=New Management- An evil castle/lab. Contains lots of lava, where you go above and under the lava in tubes/tunnels.
The idea was that, to pass IfYouThinkIt'sOver and unlock New Management, you'd have to press a switch in each of the
previous levels. Each level would contain a cryptic clue to either the previous or next level(I hadn't decided by the
time I canceled this). The switches would be in sublevels. To reach these sublevels, you'd have to piece together one or
a couple clues to find out where the entrance to the sublevel is. The sublevels would have small challenges or puzzles to
reach the switch.
Alas, I lost motivation to finish this hack. Oh well.
zbttc2.txt
hack title: bttc2 (back to the classics 2)
created: 2010
Back in early 2010, I thought I'd be done making my main hack, Back to the Classics, by summer.
I wanted to make a small hack over the summer, and then be done with hacking.
Before I made this, my vanilla hacks were all 100 percent vanilla, with no ExGFX, even to mix tilesets,
or anything like that. I had a lot of neat vanilla ideas, though, that would make use of the newest Lunar Magic(1.82) at
the time's ability to have 6 graphics slots. I also used YYCHR to take tiles from different GFX slots and put them in one
ExGFX file, so I could have tons of diverse decorations and such per level.
So I didn't finish any levels. I am completely unhappy with how Yoshi's Shoals turned out(that is one of the three main
rooms I originally planned for the level), Dusk Shoreline is almost finished and I love it, and Seaside Reef is not
finished, but looks pretty cool, I think. But I like most of these levels and stuff, so I didn't want them to go to waste..
So here you go. By the way, you can explore an unfinished submap I made for this hack as well.

hack title: flowers
created: 2011
Back in late 2009 I wanted to make an ambient hack, like Knytt, where you just wander around and enjoy the scenery.
Put that idea to rest, but in early 2011 I felt like making a tileset. I liked it, so I tried to resurrect the ambient hack
idea and use that tileset. Gave up soon, and this is the one room I made. Ha. Have fun.
zoldcontest.txt
hack title: old contest (vanilla 2011)
created: 2011
This was going to be my entry for the vanilla level design 2011 contest. The rules changed partway through and said you
couldn't use ExGFX to combine tiles into one file, so I had to redo my entry and decided to scrap my whole level except the
story, and start from scratch. It's okay though, the new version is much better. I don't really like this version's level
design or atmosphere. This version is unfinished.
zvanillacontest2011entry.txt
This was Spud Alpha's entry for the 2011 Vanilla Level Design Contest. He recieved 5th place. Alright I'm done talking in
3rd person. I'm pretty proud of this level, so I thought, since it can't be released as a standalone to the site, I'd
bundle it with all these other hacks. So have fun.
