This is my second ever SMW hack. Story: “After Mario rescued the princess from the evil clutches of King Bowser, the world was restored to peace. But one day… Bowser returned to the Mushroom Kingdom and kidnapped her again! But this time, he traveled to an alternate world. Meanwhie… while Mario was on vacation at Yoshi’s Island, he received a letter…” This is a 1 world demo of my hack. It takes place on Yoshi’s Island.

Alot of things have changed while making this hack:

  • The levels have been completely redesigned.
  • Most of the graphics have been changed.
  • A completely new overworld.
  • Completely NEW bosses instead of having to fight the same old Koopa Kids over and over again.
  • Added Custom Blocks and Custom Sprites
  • No HDMA. :(
  • Completely new music. :D
  • A new Title Screen The .zip folder also contains some screenshots and a soundtrack of all the songs used in this demo, so you can get an idea of what the hack is like before playing it. Enjoy! :)

========================= Hack Info. =========================

"Bowser Strikes Back" is a hack of Super Mario World for the
SNES. I decided to make this hack because SMW is one of my
favorite games, and there's only so much you can do with SMW
hacking. This is my second time hacking SMW, but my first hack
was really bad, and I eventually gave up on it. I think this
is one of the best hacks I've ever made.

====================== What's Been Done ======================

Alot of things have been changed while making this hack:

- The levels have been completely redesigned.
- Most of the graphics have been changed.
- A completely new overworld.
- Completely NEW bosses instead of having to fight the same old
Koopa Kids over and over again.
- Added Custom Blocks and Custom Sprites
- No HDMA. :(
- Completely new music. :D
- A new Title Screen

-This time I fixed the weird scrolling room and removed some of
the slowdown.

"After Mario rescued the princess from the evil clutches of
King Bowser, the world was restored to peace. But one day...
Bowser returned to the Mushroom Kingdom and kidnapped her again!
But this time, he traveled to an alternate world. Meanwhie...
while Mario was on vacation at Yoshi's Island, he received a
letter..."

Umm...I'm not very creative when it comes to making storylines.
And unfortunately, you won't get to see the aternate world until
the end of the game.

===================== Known Bugs/Glitches =====================

1. This is very minor, but in some levels that have custom
BG palettes, the status bar has a weird palette.
2. In the first part of "Yoshi's Plains", Mario moves slower
than usual, and some of the Bob-Ombs starts moving toward the
left, even if they're supposed to be standing still. o_O (This
was fixed in the v1.1 version)
3. In the sky part of "Excersize in the sky" some parts of the 
music disappear when Mario jumps on an enemy.
4. The ON/OFF switches have different colors in different levels.
This is because I had to fix this really bad palette in "Yoshi's
Plains" that caused the messages to have a weird color around
them, so I changed the BG to use a different palette, which was
the one that the ON/OFF switches used, so I had to make the
ON/OFF switches use a different palette.
5. In "Koopa Fortress" during the cutscene part where Mario was
walking, if you had a Fire Melon in your item box, it would have
a weird palette because it shares the same palette as Mario.
6. In "Kamek's Tower", after defeating the 2 hammer bros., a 
P-Switch would appear, but with weird colors. I tried to fix it
by using Tweaker, but it wouldn't work. o_O And if I changed the
colors in that palette, it would just make Mario look weird.
7. In "Kamek's Tower", in the lava room right past the 30 coin
blocks, there's this one part where if you bounce on the note
blocks in a certain way, they will eject Mario into a wall and
cause him to die.
